R.Aj. Kharisma Nur Maulida and Dennis Plümer grew up in faraway places.

Dennis, in a village of 6,000 souls near Bonn, Germany.

Kharisma, in close proximity to the Mangkunegaran Palace in Surakarta, Indonesia.

Despite their completely distant backgrounds, their life paths slowly moved in one direction, eventually bringing the two together.

Kharisma, whose family has always been close to Javanese court culture, saw how her city was moving towards modernisation and felt a calling to preserve and rejuvenate its historical core, especially its architecture.

Dennis, during his South-East Asia travels, observed how globalisation often overpowers local craftsmen and erodes the regional identity that had made him fall in love with the region in the first place.

United by their appreciation of Javanese culture and their wish to carry its creative identity into modern times, it seemed only natural that Kharisma’s and Dennis’ paths would one day cross.

The initial spark came when Kharisma suddenly appeared in many of Dennis’ architecture friends’ videos during a trip to Japan. One being Andra Matin, who happened to be a close friend and professional partner of both Kharisma and Dennis, and who indirectly brought them together.

After weeks of chatting towards the end of Kharisma’s stay in London during her Master’s studies, the two finally met. In Solo, Kharisma’s hometown. And during the city tour she gave Dennis, it became clear that there was so much more that bound them together.

From there, everything moved quickly, because Dennis could not stay far from her for too long. And so, the centre of their lives moved to Bintaro, the area where Kharisma currently lives, and their plans became one.

Filled with the love for each other, the peace they found together, the drive to create together, and their shared joy of dancing and laughing around, led them to this day, the 8^th of August 2026, where they join together in marriage and, hopefully, a blessed life together.
